    Melons (including watermelon, mushmelon, melon, melon or spanspek) refers to varieties of Cucumis melo, Cucurbitaceae species of the family which includes nearly all melons and pumpkins. Melons are among 0.5 to 5.0 kilograms (1.1 to 11 lb). Originally intended only for non-netted melon orange-fleshed melons in Europe, but later use has become an orange-fleshed melon (C. Melo).

    The cantaloupes have been linked to illnesses caused by listeria bacteria Listeria.
    Cantaloupe are a source of polyphenol antioxidants, chemicals that are believed to provide certain health benefits to the cardiovascular system and immune system by regulating the formation of nitric oxide, [citation needed] a chemical essential in the promotion of Health in the endothelium and prevention of a heart attack. However, recent research has shown that they can compensate, the body has mechanisms to deal with oxidation.
    Melons are also an excellent source of vitamin C.
