    Walter Payton biography

    Walter Payton (July 15, 1954-11 1st, 1999) was an American football running back who played for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) for thirteen seasons. Walter Payton was known in the NFL in "soft". We recall that one of the most prolific runners-long soccer history. Payton, a Selectee Pro Bowl nine times, once had the league record for career rushing yards, beaten, door, offensive yards, all-purpose yards, and many other categories. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1993. NFL Hall of Fame player and coach Mike Ditka Payton described as the best football player he had ever seen, but as a human being .

    Payton began his football career in Mississippi, and continued to have a career in college football unique at Jackson State University where he was an All-American. He began his professional career with the Bears in 1975 who elected him as the fourth in 1975 Entry Draft. Payton has won two NFL Most Valuable Player and won the Super Bowl XX with the Chicago Bears in 1985. After struggling with liver disease primary sclerosing cholangitis rare in several months, Payton died Nov. 1, 1999, 45 years from cholangiocarcinoma. His legacy includes the Walter Payton Award, Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, and an increased awareness of the need for organ donation.
