So I will admit I cyber stalk certain Etsy vintage shops LOL!

These people do such a great job and have such lovely merchandise that I really can't help myself.

Sometimes I click their postings and just think (often aloud) "holy shit, where the hell do they find their stuff?"

For those of you who wonder the same I can provide a little insight. Vintage clothing collection takes a whole lot of work, creativity, style, luck and artistry. You don't just walk into the local thrift store and find racks and racks of 'to-die-for' near mint condition gems. Quite the contrary actually you can spend weeks combing thrift shops, going to estate sales, yelling "STOP THE CAR" at your husband on a Saturday morning as you pass garage sales, rummage sales, and church bazaars and still come out with nothing. You have to just keep on trucking (the thrill of the chase and all) because when you do find those fabulous pieces there is really no rush like it.

To find them takes luck and work (you need to be in the right place at the right time, and you need to have an eye for style and an artist's soul) . That is just the start though, then you need to find a way to show your potential shoppers through 2 dimensional pictures just how gorgeous this 3 dimensional treasure is. Your only tools are pictures and words and both sometimes leave you rather wanting for more. Models can be difficult to work with at times (but the good ones are like gold) the posting process itself on Etsy takes a whole lot of work and a whole lot of time. Then if you are lucky someone loves the piece as much as you do and buys it!

That starts a whole new journey... SHIPPING!! There are about a billion ways that everything can go to pots with shipping. It is often very expensive on the sellers end but they can't always post the true shipping because the buyer would not understand the high price and feel ripped off so they eat some of the cost. Sometimes things go missing in the mail, sometimes they sit in postal depots, sometimes people are green to internet shopping from small vendors and they do not realise that these shops don't have the buying power of major corporations so they can't ship you an item with next day delivery with free shipping, and sometimes the purchase just takes really long to arrive.

This is the life of an Etsy Vintage shop owner. Along the way you make some friends, continually get outrageously inspired, and deliver some heartbreakingly beautiful one of a kind eco-friendly fashion to people all around the world. On the way to ship I often think of all the far off places that my little vintage gems will be being worn, places I may never get to visit like Singapore or the Netherlands...but a part of me feels all warm that these garments that I hunted for and found are living their very own little lives far far away with someone who treasures them maybe even more than I did!
It is the very definition of a rebirth.

OK. towards the end there I got a little off track and way too sappy for my own good. What I intended to highlight in this post is a few Vintage Sellers who I kinda sorta envy and admire all at once.
    Lots of love,
    Cat
